*This poem is about the upcoming Presidential Election. Horatio Seymour (1810-1886), the former NY Governor, was running for President as a Democrat. His running mate was Francis Peston Blair (1821-1875). Blair had been a union army general during the Civil War and represented Missouri in the house and senate.
