Monday, November 9, 1868 –“ I was spreading dung this forenoon.”

This is a cloudy wet day. It has rained some to day. I am doing chores to day. Jim went down to Brushland to day. John Forrest was up here to night. I was spreading dung this forenoon. The nights are very dark at present. 1868

“Swinging around the circle” is played out. Neither Andy nor Seymour succeeded at it.
The profits of the Chicago Tribune in 1867 were $148,000.
“Oh why did I light[?]!”
