This is a tolerable fine day. It rained some to day. This is the last day of August 1868. Some of the folks are over to Andes to day. I did not do much today, you may bet. The wind is South to day. One year ago to day. I was cuting oats. 1867.
Mary Liddle and Cill Liddle were down here to day but did not stay long.

Seymour and Blair went on a tear,
To get the public plunder,
Blair fell down and broke his crown,
And Seymour went to thunder.

It rained this morning. I did not do much to day. I was down to Brushland this afternoon. Bovina. I got a firkin to day. Thare was a Corcus [caucus] meeting in Brushland this afternoon. They send Capt. Morton and Thomas Brown as Delegates to Delhi to atend the convention. 1868. Jane and Lill came home to night. George Liddle fetched them home. Nancy Boyd came up with me to night from Brushland. A. Liddle came up with me. 1868

I was down to Brushland this forenoon. It is warm to day. It rained some to night. I was into the Cooper-Shop to day and also into D.L. Thomsons Store to day. 1868.

It has been a fine day. I was over to the Butend this forenoon. I was into Bill Archabalds* store and also into the Woolen factory**. Some of the folks are over to Andes to day. Adam Henderson*** was here this forenoon after Ann to pick hops. Ann went away with him. R. Scott finished his oats to day. George Cable is cuting oats to day for R. White. I saw Deacon Tom McFarland at Bill Archabalds Store to day.

Frank built a stack to day. Deliah Yapel is working for Franks. Bovina. It was about dark when I got home to night.

This is a wet day. It rained hard to day. Mrs. Boyd was here on a visit to day. A. Boyd was here to day. O. Dickson was here to day, he came from Gowanlocks. Thid Dickson was here to day. I went down to Brushland with him.
I got my foot measured for a pair of Boots to day. Thid Dickson fetched up a firkin to day for me. Mr. Wilburs folks came here to day from Hamden. They stayed all night. I bought 10 lb of Mutton from Thid Dickson to night.

Jim Laugthran went up with a drove to day. Jim Thomson was with him, also John Dumond. T. Forrest was up as far as here with them. A. Golden was here this afternoon he was after Ann to pick hops. I spoke to Golden to day.

O. Dickson came home with me. Pharus McPherson also rode home with me. I got dinner at James Muirs to day. I was into the Andes Creamery to day. I saw J.H. Parish in Andes to day. Net and Ann were at Brushland to day.

This has been a wet day. Some of the folks went to Brushland to day. This is the first day of August 1868. Ann was not home this morning. Bovina. I was soldering pans to day. Willowemock.

*This poem is about the upcoming Presidential Election. Horatio Seymour (1810-1886), the former NY Governor, was running for President as a Democrat. His running mate was Francis Peston Blair (1821-1875). Blair had been a union army general during the Civil War and represented Missouri in the house and senate.
