Wednesday, November 11, 1868 – “This has been a wet Stormy snowy day.”

This has been a wet Stormy snowy day. I was down to Brushland this afternoon. I got one of the horses shod to day two new shoes. Ludd. Gill was here making cider to day. D. Coulter was up here making cider to day. I saw Theo Dickson in Brushland to day. 1868. I bought 10 lb Sugar to day. John and Joe Forrest, D. Oglebee, Kate Clark and Ann were over to Bloomville to a party to night. 1868. The name of the place was Fisher. They stayed all night. Brushland. 1868

Tuesday, November 10, 1868 – “I cut up two apple trees to day.”

This is also a cloudy wet rainy day. I have been doing chores to day. 1868. Tom Dibble was up here making cider to day. Archy. Foreman was here making cider to day. Jim is not home to day. I cut up two apple trees to day. Jim came home to night. He has been working for Charly Smith. 1868.

Edwin Forrest has paid the accumulated alimony to Mrs. Forrest. It amounted to $65,000. Mr. Forrest’s lawsuit has cost him $300,000.* 1868

This is a cloudy wet day. It has rained some to day. I am doing chores to day. Jim went down to Brushland to day. John Forrest was up here to night. I was spreading dung this forenoon. The nights are very dark at present. 1868

Jim is working at the sled this afternoon. Mr. Allen was here to night. Jim got a letter from Bill to day. California. There is a Base Ball play at the Hook to day. The Bovina Boys beat the Andes Boys. John Forrest was down as a player. Brushland. 1868

Friday, November 6, 1868 – “It is freezing hard to night.”

It is cold to day. It is freezing hard to night. I was doing chores to day. M. Tuttle was down here making cider to day. Mary Ann Scott of Hamden and Nancy Coulter were up here to day on a visit. Jim is making a new Sled to day. There was a fire in the fireplace to day for the first this season. I was runing after our old Buck to night. 1868. Thare is Singing School in Brushland to night. Thursday, November 5, 1868 – “I was into Johnsons Woolen Factory.”

It has been cloudy and wet today. I was over to the Butend this afternoon. I was into Johnsons Woolen Factory. O. Dickson was here making cider to day. It is raining to night. Ann came home to night. Only one native Californian, born of American parents, was old enough to vote on Tuesday. A French lady of fourteen recently suicided because a boil on her nose disfigured her appearance.
