Friday, August 28, 1868 - "For General Grant and Colfax, too."

This has been a plesent day. I was diging stone to day. Ann came home to day. George Huitt fetched her home. Brushland. 1868.
John Forrest was up here to night. 1868.
Wat Hammond was here to night. A. Liddle went down by to day. Brushland.

Oh have you heard the news from Maine, Maine, Maine,
Good news and true,
Twenty thousand is the tune
For General Grant and Colfax, too.
Brick Pomeroy’s New York undertaking is already pronounced a failure.
